Whew - the amount of emotional and physical work ahead seems a bit overwhelming.Carahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08878937591945134056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1237529515432696063.post-7060948658258677082009-01-19T10:06:00.000-08:002009-01-19T10:06:00.000-08:00How frustrating . . . to do all that work and have...How frustrating . . . to do all that work and have nothing happen would be bad enough, but to know what a difference these changes could make and have nothing happen is terrible. Is there any other way to implement change? I hope you are able to begin to accomplish things; you work so hard and do so much.Sarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03533706560591305512noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1237529515432696063.post-58587377182555631852009-01-19T07:29:00.000-08:002009-01-19T07:29:00.000-08:00Institutional change is hard. I have always worked...Institutional change is hard. I have always worked in institutions...universities, libraries, etc. and know from experience that they are resistant to change. That said, the paper trail you are creating and leaving is one way to guarantee the change will happen eventually. People will leave the nursing jobs and move on and new people will come and the documents will exist and newbies will assume the "change" you speak of is part of the routine. Committees have a purpose, but sometimes change must come from the top down, not the bottom up. Have you spoken with higher ups as well? I am sure you have but sometimes, when the troops aren't listening, they need a different general to deliver the message (to use a really bad metaphor). Your work is important and WILL come to make a difference. Keep at it.rebeccaeeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07336435778965955548noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1237529515432696063.post-70722087175022569482009-01-19T00:08:00.000-08:002009-01-19T00:08:00.000-08:00Don't give up beautiful friend! I wont give up either, don't you worry.Hope's Mamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04984543289642681339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1237529515432696063.post-53027878095653062002009-01-18T20:58:00.000-08:002009-01-18T20:58:00.000-08:00Oh Carol. You are doing such a wonderful thing and they don't appreciate it. <BR/>And what's up with that lady trying to say she wrote that thing that you wrote!? That's balsy. She's got to live with herself. I think you should be proud of the work you do and if you can take it, keep it up. If it's eating away at you, then don't feel guilty to stop. They don't appreciate it and maybe another hospital would be more receptive. I'm so sorry you have been treated like that.Meghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06658154113502239383noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1237529515432696063.post-82952420469377470712009-01-18T19:52:00.000-08:002009-01-18T19:52:00.000-08:00I so feel your frustration, and I am so sorry they...I so feel your frustration, and I am so sorry they are all so unreceptive. It just gives me chills to feel how resistant they are, how scared they are to open themselves up to the pain and loss that is so close to their work. Is the experience of being part of this work nurturing you in some important way, is it at all healing? It feels like you are giving so much energy to it - and while I agree it is SO important, I just want to make sure it is doing more than draining and frustrating you.Galhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15515520003762525659noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1237529515432696063.post-12685974572798730692009-01-18T19:34:00.000-08:002009-01-18T19:34:00.000-08:00How incredibly frustrating! I don't have any real suggestions...I don't have enough distance from my own loss to contribute to this kind of change, but I certainly hope to one day. Don't give up though...what you are doing is TOO important!ezra'smommyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17342399045659116165noreply@blogger.com
